The ISPs have the accurate speeds, we schleps on the end user side get what they give us.

id probably be lying if i told you they were that close. obviously ISP's dont give you the full connection speed they advertise, but theres no way these things are considered close. do a google search for "internet speed" and try at least 5 of the speed test results that come up. im not saying theyre all going to be no where near each other, but at least if they are somewhat consistent, it will give a better truth to whether they have any accuracy at all, or if theyre just throwing fake numbers at you with little dependence on your actual connection speed.
