That makes no sense.

Fake CARB tags ARE counterfeit tags. Same thing.

FWIW, I know people who have done it and gotten away with using incorrect CARB stickers or plates, and those who got caught using them. Usually they just won't smog your car, but a few people found guys who do their jobs, and ended up in a good amount of trouble.

Your best bet? Register your car in one of the few remaining counties in CA that do not require the semi-annual smog check. Sure, you still could not run a O/R X, but heads and cams would no longer be a problem.

Considering that removing/circumventing smog equipment is a federal law, and printing counterfeit stickers is to do that falls under federal statute, I have a feeling the government will feel different.

Of course, if someone here wants to try it, I will be more than willing to watch from the sidelines and laugh as their ass is extradited to CA. on charges of counterfeiting. Even if CARB numbers are not part og MT laws, I am pretty sure counterfeiting federal papers (Which is what I am guessing CARB numbers/plates falls under) IS illegal there.

I don't even know what a carb number/plate is.. how could there be a federal law about them? Just to reitterate.. If i don't know what something is, there can't be a fedral law about it...

You will get in lots of trouble for even trying to ship them to Cali. If they find out that you tried... PWNED. Were not even allowed to send them a CATTED X or H pipe, nobody makes one to meet the new regulations for Cali. But we can send an offroad because its "used for offroad only"... Lol
Gotta love Cali
