Gotta love Cali
Well the catted can be used for "offroad" only too, but nobody will do that.

FWIW I run a catted X here and have been pulled over for it. MOST cops have no clue that I am missing the 2 pre-cats, and I am let go. (It is always for loud exhaust, and always in smaller towns) I would imagine sooner or later someone will know though. Then i just swap on the stocker (Like I will have to do to pass the visual for smog) and I am good. (Even though my catted X will pass a sniff test easily, it won't pass visual.)

A guy up here passed a sniffer with long tubes and a catted shorty. Smog tech noticed the long tubes = failed. Lame.

Believe it or not, I found that somewhat enjoyable. They weren't that bad of ricers, at least they actually built their engines and knew some of what they were talking about. (some of them)

250whp or so will move good when you put it in a 2,000lb CRX

id much rather have a 2000lb fox than a 2000lb CRX, hell even a 2000lb 65-66 stang. iirc the stock weight on my 65 fastback full interior, with the rear seat(weighs 90lbs) and full glass with the v8 and 4sp is right around 2800lbs

Is it even fun to own a sports car in cali? You can never do anything to it without the cops hounding you for it. I've always wanted to buy a beater the biggest piece of crap that I can find that's running, blowing black smoke out the tail pipes, running rich as hell and just drive out in front of the LAPD station and see how long before I get pulled over.
