Didn't read this thread at all other than the original post.
I had mine taken out when I was in High School. They were pretty fine (aside from the expected pain) for the first day. Thereafter I was in IMMENSE pain for a week to a week and half. I had dry sockets in every place I had them pulled (I had all of them done at once). I didn't really do anything to cause the dry sockets that I remember -- I was just unlucky. I ended up having to go back every day or two and having them pack this gauze in there that numbs it.
Was probably one of the worst experiences pain wise I've had, other than having Mono which made me feel like I was going to die (literally).
Not trying to scare anyone -- my girlfriend had hers pulled a year ago and had absolutely no problems and I think even went to class the next day?
Just avoid those dry sockets at all costs... the nerve's get exposed to air and it KILLLLLLLLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'd suggest just eating VERY slowly and eating as little as possible to prevent those, same with drinking stuff. You'll probably be out of it for a day or two.
On a side note the only "high" I've ever had in my life was when I got those out. I woke up and was feeling the effects of that stuff that makes you "happy and sleepy." I got out of surgery and started jumping around and when we picked up my medicine from the lady at the Pharmacy I growled at her LOL?! I dont know what the heck I was thinking but apparently I'd be a pretty crazy high guy. I didn't remember this stuff until my mom told me afterwards, now I remember bits and pieces lol
I had mine pulled back in feb..it was awesome to me..i woke up and stumbled to the car and slept the whole way home...and tried to get out but fell to the ground and had to crwl up the stairs to my house lol...slept like a baby the rest of the day/night..the next day i was pretty damn groggy and didnt do crap all day..
Just had mine done last Thursday. I woke up pretty drugged. The first couple hours was terrible for me since my face was swelled up and numb. So I couldn't eat until the numbness went away. Hated taking out the gauze and putting in new. I was knocked out in my surgery and my throat hurt over the next couple days. I was pretty much fine after 1 day. Lived off of applesauce, ice cream, mac and cheese, and instant mash potatoes. Made sure to drink lots of fluid. Also make sure you sit/lay down the first day, I almost passed out several times from trying to sit on a bar stool and trying to walk around. You should be fine if you listen to them and take the medicines. They told me to only eat/drink cold things on the first day. Then after that I could eat whatever I felt like I could eat. I was just able to eat real hard food about Wednesday.
make them put you out, i was high as **** all day. it was fun, everything was hilarious, and i slept alot. It never really hurt bad, but the oxycodon they gave me made me really angry.. kinda weird.

you'll have fun digging the food out of the little holes in your mouth too...
omg.... that makes me cringe sssssooo bad.
mine never came in so I never had to get them taken out. But I have been put to sleep a couple times and it's not that bad. Just get a lot of sleep and you should be fine. I'm sure you'll be sore for a good week or two.
they gave me a syringe that you use to flush the holes out with
