Im thinking about putting sum real wood in my fish tank, i wanna go cut sum tree branches and have a brush pile in my tank, does ne1 have any experience or advice on doing that.

Im told to take the bark off and let them soak in boiling water a few days.

hmm serious question?

yeah advice you got is good.. you dont want living wood in your tank or it will decay and pollute it.. so.. drift wood is ideal and most stores that sell fish sell it.. i suppose if you find an attractive branch that would look good in your tank any type would do.. balsa might float though.. other than that im sure you'll be ok.. id let it dry out/die off for awhile first though

hmmm.. ive never done it.. id listen to some people who have.. if i were to do it though.. yes id follow that approach, along with some ammonia/nitrite/nitrate/ph tests.. see how the wood affects it.. depending on the wood i may leave the bark on till it softens up and makes it easy to remove.. otherwise you have to whittle it down then it doesn't look so natural

boil in in a pot of water for 2 hours, and if the whole log cant fit in the pot, don half for 2 hours and the other half for another 2 hours...

then sit it in a pot of dechlorinated water for 2 weeks... or untill the log stops leaking stain( turning the water green/brown )... then put in your tank...

heres my tank
