Any GSXR 750 guys out there? Or Knowledgeable bike gurus...
I am having an argument with a friend. He is telling me his 1998 GSXR750 got up to 208 with him driving. I don't know enough about bikes to know any better, but that sounds fishy as hell. He has bored it out to 864cc, power commander, straight exhaust, and a 39 tooth rear sprocket as his mods
BS or not?
I would think with the gearing (no idea if thats higher.lower than stock) would run out by 190ish?

i could see 180-190, but anything above that is not possible. modern 1000cc bike's have a hard time hitting 175mph and they make 160-170horsepower stock.
maybe his out of wack speedometer said 208. ok, fine. probably due to the gear change. But even stock speedometers are off as much as 10%.
IT would have to pretty much be a HARD CORE race motor, and even then i doubt it. (plus building bike's costs a **** load.)

When i had my Sv1000 bike, i read up on stroking the motor. OEM cc of the motor was 996. you could punch it out to a MAX of 1013cc's
this gained 20horse and 15 torque.......... on a bike thats a pretty good jump in power... but nothing extreme.
Ok, the cost for the work is $2500-3000. and currently theres only one shop really trusted in the SV1000 community to do the work right, and they are in the UK, so now you have to include the shipping cost of a entire motor (with special charges because it is a motor) to get the work done.
so it would probably costed me $4000+ to stroke the motor on my bike, for gain's that wasent that amazing.
that give you a small idea of motorcycle performance?
BUT my 1000cc V-twin bike maxed out around 168mph. I did that ONCE. and that was what the speedo said.
these are just to give you an idea of what it takes.
