Man, after being away for a while, the 6 AM wakeup (and craptastic up-4-times sleep beforehand) and all day with the kids is exhausting... top it off with my only break being at the last half hour of the day, and woof. The months off are AWESOME, but going back is f'ing brutal... the time away makes it so much worse to adjust to. At lunch it was like a bunch of zombies sitting around dully chewing on sandwiches.
On the plus side, 16 of my former students came back at the end of the day for a (loud) visit, so that was nice.

the teachers get 2 hours planning here in my town :P
teachers sure say they work and are tired a lot, when they actually get about 120 days more off a year :P

you complain now, but you'll wish you were back in school when you grow up and get a real job.
And yeah, teaching is exhausting on a whole other level... dude, I worked some pretty rough jobs... when I was GMing the hockey and football and soccer teams, I was working 8 AM to 1 AM four days a week because of games, and either doing 9-6ers the others or was on a bus to some damn town... I slept on the trainers table 2, 3 nights a week at the arena and just showered in the locker room... and I swear, I was NEVER as tired as with teaching... being "on" for the day with the kids just wipes you the hell out like nothing I've ever experienced.
The wife, who before this was working for Bob Niro and before that with Mike Douglas is just starting her second year teaching, and she admits she never, ever expected it to be like this... she has said SO many times that you just don't understand it until you do it.
