my friend was a diesel mechanic for mac truck made over 50k a year and was walk on, he had education in autobody and got a job doing mechanical work lol (don't ask me how) He was definitly able, i would of thought he had to of got some kind of education or something for it but he never did lol, he ended up getting laid off about a year and 1/2 ago, i don't think theres alot of demand for any kind of mechanics right now.

my buddy makes 100k+ after he pays his helper in the largest shop in town, granted his salary has probably gone down some but he is still banking even in this current economy
