hi, i live in michigan.. and winter is very harsh here.. it snows a lot and i'm looking for a good car for snow...
someone suggested a 4x4 1997 GMC jimmy.. i'm not sure about it though it looks too small to be good for snow and also he mentioned that it has to be a 97 model "because thats the best model"..
i myself was looking at dodge durnagos, prefebally the newer models (2004-and leter)...
i'm willing to pay around 6k or so.. i found a 4x4 2004 durango with 100k miles on it for 67 which he prolly will take down to 6..
but what you guys think ? what are some good cars for snow.. ?
thanks in advance.

And too small ? A little light suv would be fine in the winter. Any car will do if you know how to drive, I've never driven a car that couldn't be used in the winter. They all work if you can drive. 4x4 is not a solve all to snow.
the only car i would drive from dodge is the JGC SRT8... because it's basically a big german made SUV with a 6.1L Dodge engine... put a TT kit on it, and then do this
from what I hear the AWD in the thing puts a sherman tank to shame (partly because it weighs more lol) and it can still achieve sub 5 second 0-60's bone stock
I luff me JGCSRT8's ^_^

4wd seems to get most people in trouble than help, mostly because people are idiots. They believe that because they have 4wd they can still go the speed limit on a snowy road that probably has ice under it. Its all in how you drive the vehicle. Made it through some snowy winters in a bald tires 2wd F150, it helped that it was a stick but still its how you drive it.
Also Mopar sucks, don't by that durango if you like a working transmission. But unless you live in the boonees or down some roads that don't get plowed you're fine with 2wd or a FWD car. Anything with 4wd and you should be fine on most any road as long as you don't drive like a dumbass, it really doesn't have that much of an effect except for getting started, after 25mph nothing is going to help you.

as far as CAR.. AWD is the way to go, sub's... evo's. etc. far as suv's..durangos uphill in snow fine, they go down hill fast hahah, into banks, throwing me into the console from teh back seat cause this idiot couldn't drive, you'd be fine with anything awd and 4x4 with good tires and decent power.
