Default i hate my job because of other ignorant people

and this is why....

i work at an administration company. in October of '08 some dip ****s stole a bunch of info from some other company. right around 900k peoples identity was in this file that was illegally accessed. the thieves thought they could extort money from express scripts by sending them a letter. is this a very smart tactic? no...so as far as we know its a bunch of goons thinkin they are smart because they got lucky getting into a sensitive file. here is a little history on it if you wanna read real quick

http://www.esisupports.com/

my problem is the letter they sent these people. it says "your name, dob, ssn, and possible prescription information have been compromised" are you F'in with me?!?!?! express scripts has no idea what these thieves got out of this file that was accessed, all they know is what file they got into. a poorly worded letter now has put hundreds of thousands into a panic thinkin they are in immediate danger. so they crash coarse trained a life insurance agent, me, into how to handle ID theft phone calls. not only the ID theft calls, but irate ID theft callers. i dont mind the irate people since i deal with this everyday, but the fact that this was totally unnecessary and many of the calls could have been avoided with a little proof reading and checking with peers. but since this incident there have been no confirmed reports of fraud, so people are freakin or for nothing since the intention of the letter was just to keep people informed and mindful...thats deff not what they accomplished.

thoughts? am i just bitchin or do you think im justified in my anger with this company?

You are justified, they over-reacted big time. BoA down plays it. My mom just got a new debit card and saying activate this card immediately because we have terminated your current card number since it could have been compromised, sorry for the inconvenience. she was like hmm okay. Now, of course she handles all the finances of both our shop and the home, so she would know if someone was spending money or if something was just not right.

However, the company legally to cover its ass needs to send out a letter explaining the situation. But they needed to word it differently. This would have worked nicely.

Dear XXXX, we regret to inform you that some of your personal information we had on file may have been compromised after a cyber attack took place and a data file was stolen. We have notified the FBI and other law enforcement agencies and there is an investigation currently underway. To date, we have had no reports of anyone's information being used illegally, but we felt it necessary to inform you of this situation. If you have any concerns feel free to call.
Sincerely, Express Scripts CEO

my thoughts¿ the next time you want to rant about something been poorly worded and the horrible proofreading done with it, try to apply a little of that proofreading to your own remarks.

i dont think anything i wrote is poorly worded? did you get the message? i certainly think so. did i mislead you with any of the information? nope....so whats your point?

i did not proofread for perfect grammar, sentence structure, punctuation. that is completely beside the point. so your opinions in regards to my story would be much more appreciated than to criticize my thread structure.
