Do you have an irrational fear of floor mats? Did floor mats beat you up as a child?

My point is it's a silly recall and people are overreacting. I don't even like Toyotas.

Go sit in the corner!

And not all Toyotas suck....Just Scions.
It would and it was an extremely rare fault that would require a few things to be wrong at the same time. You would need to have the faulty harness that would leave the CC wire hot if left on when the vehicle was shut off. Then you would need to have a leaky master cylinder or brake fluid reservoir, leak on the wire and remove the insulation and then rest on something that would catch on fire.

It was kind of a perfect storm fault, I remember hearing it happened only once.

It's because they didn't let the turbo's cool down, which would happen with ANY diesel, not just a ford. Durrr

Anyways, the whole point of this thread was for those that are always bashing domestics. Every manufacturer has its flaws no matter how "perfect" they are. Some are very SIMPLE things others are more complex.

Regarding the comment about "well at least it doesn't catch fire" Um I think the floormat thing is worse as in, the car is in motion with people in it 100% of the time it happens. A fire is random in most cases there have not been people in teh vehicle when it happens or the car is stopped.

um...

who on here is 'always bashing domestics'?

and lol @ that "BUYING JAP? SHAME ON U'" article.

So, did they forget to put the little spikes on the bottome of the mats or something?

uh, no it's not. it's from the DPF. they go through a "cleaning" cycle, where diesel fuel is injected into the DPF to burn off the wastes. the problem Ford had was their DPF's would start to disintegrate and burn coming out the tail pipe. it had NOTHING to do with the turbos. Ford fixed the problem, and it's all good now.
