It was kind of a perfect storm fault, I remember hearing it happened only once.
I witnessed this with a Crown Vic.
Those were notorious about catching in fire when parked.
I believe the late 90s early 2000s models were prone to this...

My 02 Expedition had a recall to replace the wiring harness that ran below the master cylinder. It's about a 6" harness.

The way the connector was designed,if the master cylinder leaked, the fluid could collect in the connector causing a short and thus a fire.

Not one of Ford better ideas.

My favorite recall was on the Impala.

Apparently oil would leak from the engine, onto the harness and catch fire.
Instead of fixing the oil leak....GMC just reinforced the harness with extra plastic. Yay!

I remember a early 90's Land Rover came in the shop one day and somehow the damn thing was pouring oil "INTO" the manifolds.... meaning not only was it burning massive amounts of oil but it was making a smoke screen wherever it went and thick oil smoke was just pouring out of the tailpipe... and the multiple holes in the exhaust near the mid pipe

that was pretty sweet, the idiot guy I work with tried pulling it into the shop and befre I could yell at him the entire shop was filled with smoke

not a recall, but it still was pretty fun... well, at least we had fun with it XD
