Default 97 GTP Vs GT500

It's been awhile since I have had a great race but my luck finally changed last night. I haven't had a real challenge since I finished the car so I have been on the look out. I pull up to a red light and lucky for me, a GT500 pulls up next to me. I didn't think this guy would want any (the GTP just doesn't attract many races) so when the light turned green I just eased into it and took off at a normal pace. Well, this guy starts to pace me and seemed to have the car in a lower gear ready to go. I gladly drop my car into second and mash the gas. He immediated punched it as well. At first we were dead nuts even, then I caught the next gear and it started to change. I pulled about a car up on him all the way till about 95mph when we let off. The look on the guys face was priceless. He could not believe what just happened. Made me all the more happy to drive my sleeper.

not calling BS by any means cause there are v6 mustangs on here that can destroy a GT500...just curious since there is nothing in your sig

what kind of power are you putting down with those upgrades? I would have figured it would take more than a pulley and a few bolt ons to take down a GT500...

dont know a whole lot about pontiacs though...good kill i guess, lol

Oh boy, here we go.....

OP, with those mods aren't you about a high 12 sec car at best? I am def not one to negate someones story from the get-go, just seems improbable that a shelby bit the dust in this race.......

For the record, I love gtp's, they make decent sleepers for not a lotta cash. Any pics or vids of that thing?

edit: just cause im curious, what the heck is a "u-bend delete"? A part of the exhaust Im assuming, enlighten me please?

edit 2: mac10.... getting bored with that f/i yet??

Never dyno'd the car but it should make between 300-350whp. A U-Bend delete is a mod the removes a horrible restriction in our exhaust.

As everyone knows I have no issue calling BullSH!T! Swapping a pulley isn't going to get the job done against a GT500.

I've never actually raced but according to my dyno numbers. I should run 8s on street tires.

not even if i was trying like hell, could i get tired of it. already thinking about upping the boost a bit though. after the new COP's, catch can, and boost a pump come in, i am gonna take it up to about 510whp and call it quits...for now, lol

I too have no problem calling BS but like i said, i dont know enough about pontiacs to make that call. If that was the case, i would have just bought a grocery getter myself and dropped about a grand in it and went ZO6 hunting....

Its our nature

To be honest, it might be the way you're going about telling the story. You just got your car "finished", which at first had me expecting a built motor or something, not a pulley swap and exhaust. Then, you sound like you totally expected this outcome in this race. A little humbleness/modesty, like "I know this is gonna sound crazy, but....." would have yielded responses like "Well, anything can happen on the street, good run OP". Even though thats just us being nice, thats all that would've been said......

And those mods would really bring that much hp? Not bad imo, just not enough for gt500.....
