Default Buell Motorcycles = Dead

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/upto...ell-brand.html

It sucks, they had some very cool bikes in their lineup. But there's a definitely a reason these bikes wouldn't sell...

Buell Firebolt
1203cc
103hp
MSRP: $10,500

Suzuki GSXR600
600cc
105hp
MSRP: $10,500

See the problem? DOUBLE the displacement, similar price, SAME horsepower out of the Buell and the Suzuki? That's just stupid. Sure the Buell has about 30 lbs. more torque, but still...with DOUBLE the displacement of a GSXR600 you'd think it would have it beat in the power/price department.

They do have some badass designs. Good looking, comfortable, etc.
Really like the "See Through" gas tank on the Firebolt.

I'm not sure about the racers

Buell has been hot schit here in Daytona since they hooked up with Harley Davidson several years back and from what I hear, have kicked a ton o' ass across tracks of all kinds.
I hate to see them go because it is one more American manufacturer on the ash heap of American exceptionalism.

But they're also some of the most expensive bikes to boot. $25,000 for a motorcycle...Really?

ive always been surprised the jap bikes never adapted the frame as a fuel tank like Buell did...

edit:

you have to look at the entire performance aspect, not just the hp numbers too though ...

from my understanding buells have some kick ass geometry that gives them some killer handling
