tardigrades (water bears) can live through damn near anything... they go into a cyst stage and can survive like that for at least 5 years. so it wouldnt surprise me if they could survive in space for a while. it kinda defeats the purpose since they are sending them in sealed containers though. all they are going to experience is the pressure.
5 years? They can live like that over 100 years easily
It's extremely interesting if you read into it..

as of 2004, the longest recorded dormancy in tardigrades was 7 years. not really sure where you are coming up with 100 years, unless there are some new studies out showing otherwise... the eggs have a better survival rate than the adults, but it still wouldnt equal out to 100 years

uh... since you are like the coolest and smrtest person I could ever imagine, maybe you can tell me if it's normal to be spit roasting a girl and the other guy keeps looking at you, licking his lips and trying to grab your balls?
fyi, I told him that it wasn't normal and the other guy was probably a bisexual college kid from texas.

In 2011, the life forms will be packed up inside a puck-like container called a BioModule with a total mass of 100 grams, which is designed to resemble a meteorite that may have carried earlier life forms between planets. After the 10-month journey to Phobos, the specimens will undergo a 4,000-g impact on the moon's surface, spend a few weeks there in their sealed containers, and then return to Earth on board a robotic interplanetary lander that would crash-land in Kazakhstan.
GLORY FOR KAZAHKSTAN! VERY NICE!
