As I understand it from my 'brother-in-law' the Michigan DNR people DO NOT have full police authority.
They are the 'fish police'. Supposed to be doing fish/game enforcment only.
I'd have asked that DNR agent for his I.D. and certainly would have said nothing to him until my attorney was present.
You would think by now they would be tired of lawsuits............

I have always viewed DNR as security guards, they became DNR because the police said no thanks. Never had a run in personally with them, but I have heard plenty of stories about people that have. We have a place on the water, so we are always out there misbehaving on our waverunners. It is just a matter of time, but then they would have to catch me first.

All I know is if he had asked to search I'd of said no. My friend said he took big wiffs of the air inside the truck when he pulled my friend out. My other buddy had his car searched by the police a few days ago, they messed all his stuff up, spilt coke all over his floor, found nothing and just left it a mess, **** that.

around here the coast guard cruises the waterways on these guys...
they are no laughing matter when it comes to speed and maneuverability. they will hold 45 knots with no problems. and many wildlife officers have just as much, if not more power than state troopers.

Yea, I know the coast guard around here is nothing to mess with, see them on the Detroit river between U.S. and Canada. Those are some badass boats, fast and most have guns.
watch the vids top one is a Law Professor explaining why the 5th amendment is for innocent men....
2nd vid is a cop explaining how he gets people to fess up and consent to searchs etc even writing out apology letters to people who they have stolen from(which he uses as confession letters lulz)
