I have a few friends with neons well past 200K and they still run forever and they only paid around $1000-1500 for theirs, make sure you get a 5 speed though.

I drive a 99 grand am gt most of the time, the build quality isnt the best, the dash is warping big time but other than that it has been reliable. And it looks better than a neon. It doesnt get that great of gas mileage though.
