Smile Im 18 and...

I want to finally go out and get my 'stang. The problem is that I dont have any credit and my parent's credit isnt all that great either.

I was just wondering if anyone on here could give me some pointers on what route I could take in order for me to go out and drive the car that I have been waiting for for a long time now.

Paying with cash sounds like your only option right now until you establish some credit. Some lenders MAY finance you, but you're going to get raped with interest rates that will over inflate the price of the car. Are you working full-time? Establish a career (join the military) and everything will come in time. These cars will always be around.

Im working part-time. Go to school. And I never want to join the military. How badly raped by interest do you think if they do finance?

I've heard of some pretty ridiculous interest rates for people in your situation, but only investigating the situation will tell you definitely. I would find a car, talk to the salesperson and explain what's going on up front and see what they say. Dealers are working some pretty outrageous deals right now, maybe they can pull a few strings on a car to get you a deal that you can afford.

Good luck.

I got into mustangs pretty fierce when I was 15, didn't actually buy one until 18 and it was a '89 GT. Went through 3 5.0's until I finally had the means to get the newest stang on the block (I'm only 24 btw), and that was after two trips to Iraq. Don't get something you aren't going to like, like a '96 V6 or something lame like that, but start your mustang ownership at the bottom and go from there. You can find a 5.0 for a couple grand no matter where you live, and those cars are a blast. Hell, I'm still working my way up the ladder, one day I'm gonna have a GT500/Cobra or whatever it's gonna be called by then, but that day won't be for a while.

Right, thats what I'm saying. I have been in this mood since I was 14! LOL. Everyone tells me to get a 5.0 and what not, but like I really want an S197 body. Its just something that I love and I wont be able to live knowing that I didnt get what I wanted. Im going to have a long talk today with my parents and hopefully they can get a loan, because at least they have some credit, and then they might be able to help me out. Ill post more info if need be.
