I have only gotten a flu shot once, right before I moved to Sacramento.
My roommate and I both got the shot, since our free healthcare was over soon as we both graduated from college.
2 days later we were both horribly sick. 104 degree temp, nauseous, the whole thing. I remember going downstairs to sleep because my bed was too damn hot. I started hallucinating and remember seeing easter baskets marching down the stairs.
you do know that when you get a flu shot, theyre basically giving you the flu, right? you cant build an immunity to something you've never had before.

I had the actual flu, and I would highly recommend at least getting the tried and true standard flu shot. The health center here didn't really pay attention to whether it was the normal flu, H1N1 type B or H1N1 type A (which is the "swine flu"), but they treated it like it was the swine flu. It was a week and a half of pure hell, I ran a fever of at least 101 for 5 days, couldn't eat anything, lost 15 pounds, I couldn't do ****. Then my fever broke and I started feeling better for a day or so, then I started running a fever again and getting winded and having trouble breathing, so I went back to the doctor and found out I had bronchitis....so I'm just getting over all that. But yeah, I don't trust the new vaccine that they rushed like crazy to get out, but if you can get the regular flu shot and it's not too expensive I would highly advise it. That's just my opinion though, and 3 weeks ago I was like all you guys "**** that shot, I'm not getting the flu, bs, bs, etc." This year you can even go into like damn Publix and get one. The Flu sucks.....

Yeah, the only way to build up immunity to a virus is to be exposed to the live virus so your body can adapt to it. They tell you when you take it that you're probably going to feel like **** for the rest of the day, I don't know why it pissed people off so badly.

I have to get since I have a Kidney transplant and my immune system is surpressed from all the drugs I take.
I am more than likely to catch it and die for that reason alone.
Yep, when i was on chemo, I couldn't get any vaccinations because the vaccine would infect me. They had to wipe out all my white blood cells, so even the common cold could spell trouble. It was like well you have a 50% chance of catching the flu this year which could be fatal in your condition, or we give you the vaccination which would up it to 95%" Dead virus or not, if you don't have a white cell count, you are fuxed.
