Default Mods for late model Thunderbird?

I know you guys may not be as knowledgeable on this subject as you are with Mustangs, but my father and I are considering buying an 05 Thunderbird together. Has anyone here had any personal experience with these? I also haven't seen ANY aftermarket for these. Anyone got any suggestions, such as power adders, exhaust, perhaps forced induction?

Thanks!

Doubt you'll find much for the 3.9l V8. Just not enough market for that motor.

Yeah, I've noticed that. It's a kind of a bummer, always liked that roadster style. They should have incorporated the 4.6.

well, its getting cold outside again...****in reached down to the 40s the other day. almost can't wait for the snowy stuff............................almost i don't have a twitter account nor have i ever been to a twitter web page (update: i have), but if i ever did decide to take the plunge i will let you know by posting it in this awesome little box of text (update: not really)! i like tacos lol...though between crunchy tacos and soft tacos i cannot really say which one is better. sometimes, the mess a crunchy taco leaves behind is a little annoying while the soft taco just doesn't have the same taste... cake is so much better than pie no, srsly. **** pie. ****ing

i did too.
YOU convinced me to sell it
well that and the fact that the ball joints were about to give.
and that it smelled like the beach 24/7
and that the headliner was starting to sagg
and that unless i wanted to do a pi swapp + eaton + gears
and still not be too fast then it was a waste of time

still great point a to b car

Fine...I'll admit it

this is the most honorable thing you guys will ever see

S197 TEKKKKKK!!!!

and just like that I win.

STILL

You OT guys know anything about the newer T-birds? They're pretty f'n obscure, can't really find anything online so I guess that kind of f**ks my chances for finding anything else. Wish we had the resources to swap in a supercharged 4.6L.

i did?

oh and pi swap is not enough. it would need a 4v and a blower. even then it'd still be slow because it's an all metal 4000 lb monster. and good luck launching it with that craptastic irs. it'd need at least a cobra irs if not a live axle 8.8 built up.

I think you guys are thinking he has a car he doesn't. He doesn't have the 4.6 mammoth from the 90's. He has the crazy styled one with the jaguar motor. I think its the same 3.9 v8 they used in the lincoln ls. Check that out

yeah, and there is absolutely no modifications worth the money invested on these things

the tranny is glass, it has an open differential that is foreign... so impossible to swap a ford LSD into... so many other downfalls on the platform makes it a horrible car to modify for power

SCT offers a tune for them... whoopdeefreakingdoo!

the MOST I've ever seen done with the platform is a 100 shot, that SCT tune, a makeshift CAI, a 3200 stall and a fabbed LSD with a custom made drive shaft to make the 8.8" swap probable... and that only went 13.2 @ 106MPH as a best.... per money and time invested? that is a crap time IMO

just be happy with your mid-high 14 second car and when it starts crapping on you @ 75K miles neglect the hell out of it because it deserves it

Jaguar POS

Or he could try to get ahold of a blown AJ to replace his, either the AJ26S or the AJ34S both give a substantial power boost. 370/387 and 390/399 respectivly.

Yeah, 3.9 on the last generation T-Birds, Lincoln LS and jags.

The XK8-R and the S type-R were supercharged models with the 3.9.
So OP, you could always find that root style blower for the Bird or the whole drivetrain if cheap enough.
Ford talked about making a boosted version of the late T-bird but discontinued the car instead.
And it's a good thing, it would have been a $50K car minimum on a product that was already overpriced...
