Yea my sunfire sounds like crap so dad is puttin sawdust somewhere to make it quiet... I forget where he told me.. I looked it up and came up with this ....

Grooves the cylinder walls to reduce friction. Kind of like honey combing the walls, but this is the red neck style, and on an American car he may get away with it. Nice cat by the way.

because a groove in a cylinder wall is called a SCORE, a score int he cylinder wall is bad and causes blowby in extreme cases and wears rings

and honeycombing the cylinder wall is called CROSSHATCHING and only honing does that and its to allow oil to work its way up the cylinder wall to reduce friction
