Default Selfish Relatives

So the womans side of the family is coming over tomorrow for typical Christmas shenanigans. Every year for the past few, instead of buying gifts, everyone donates cash, then the family plays a game. The winner chooses a charity to donate all money to. This year when discussing plans, one aunt (55 years old) out right said she didn't want to do the charity thing because she wanted presents. Everyone else is doing the charity thing and thought auntie was ridiculous for demanding presents. Keep in mind there are no kids, just about 15 adults.

The family's solution? Everyone has bought this woman gifts that were $5 or less. We bought one of those Bailey's gift sets...we are keeping the big bottle and two of the three mini bottles, giving her one mini (the one we didn't think sounded good) Everyone else is doing similar.

I think she may cry. I'm torn between being nervous at her reaction, being sympathetic, and wanting to video it.

Wow what a piece of crap.
It's pretty well-known that Christmas loses 95% of it's joy when there aren't kids around to spoil. My family is in the same predicament; only adults. Doing the charity thing is a great way to make things better without the fun.

VIDEO VIDEO VIDEO We will need VIDEO of her reaction.

But then maybe she's feeling un(der)appreciated and want to know what her family really thinks of her, which can be dangerous.

If you can't handle the answer then don't ask the question.

I really dig the charity game idea. Good on you and yours.

well, its getting cold outside again...****in reached down to the 40s the other day. almost can't wait for the snowy stuff............................almost i don't have a twitter account nor have i ever been to a twitter web page (update: i have), but if i ever did decide to take the plunge i will let you know by posting it in this awesome little box of text (update: not really)! i like tacos lol...though between crunchy tacos and soft tacos i cannot really say which one is better. sometimes, the mess a crunchy taco leaves behind is a little annoying while the soft taco just doesn't have the same taste... cake is so much better than pie no, srsly. **** pie. ****ing

We still do presents but that charity idea is good.

That 5 dollar gift idea is mean. I wouldn't quite say she's selfish unless sshe would have bought everyone 5 dollar gifts & expected really nice things in return. Did she say she wanted to donate $$$ still or no (sans the game)? Like walk in to _________ and smack down cash/check for donation?

And I dunno wat teh cat is talking about the holiday losing its joy....I feel pretty damn good dropping coin on gifts for my loved ones.

video brah. lulz will be had, esp. if she starts to cry.

On a side note, this is a really good idea (the charity thing I mean) because we are pretty much at that point on one side of the family where now its just about time for our kids to start coming alone. We only have two kids right now and everyone gets them a little something, but for us adults, that maybe a great idea. And as redneck as our family is, it will probably be a drinking game if we did something like this.

I don't know if butt plugs cost a lot more than $5 Bucks or not but wrap up one of those nicely and put it in her gift basket.
Get the video ready though, because it will definitely be priceless.

so what if they are more than $5, that idea is genius enough for a $50 plug. And have the note say

"this brings a whole new meaning to shove it up your ***. Merry Christmas."

just have someone purchase a $5 tube of lube for her as well.

What are you going to say if she BUYS everyone nice presents? You should get her a really nice gift, that way you're covered no matter what she does. Merry Christmas. Scmucks.

No video, I had to leave for work before they have her the gifts. Buncha buchacci. I had a bad reaction to some sleeping pills and slept through half the family's visit. The bad side of that reaction was yacking up the half plate of Christmas dinner I was able to eat when I got to work. What a lousy Christmas Eve this was!

I would prefer presents especially on xmas. I wouldn't want to be pretty much forced into giving money to a charity. If I was going to give money to charity, it would be on my own will. It's nice to give to a charity yea, but if it makes me selfish to want to buy someone a present and receive one instead of giving to a charity, it should be my decision. I think it's pretty rude to give a small 8oz bottle of whatever when the whole set should have been the gift.

I think that's more of a bitch move then the aunt wanting presents. Big deal, presents, oh no!!!!! Presents on xmas? What? I never head of that! I think you guys are making it a bigger deal then it is.
