lolwut. You're either trolling or don't know that the 98 GT still had the NPI heads and intake and only made 215 horsepower (once again, less than a 1989 Taurus SHO). I can buy that a stock 96-98 cobra can touch a 13.99 quarter mile but no way is the gt gonna do that.

No they did NOT. New Edge GTs were lucky to hit 14 flat, so what makes you think a car with less HP that weighs almost the same would be faster??

The Camaro began to faulter due to lack of advertising and rising prices putting them out of range of your average buyer while the Mustang still came in at a relatively low price.

Then Ford went ballistic and Mustang prices slowly began to raise $1000 every year without reason or innovation involved, and with the release of the new models Ford has priced the Mustang out of reach of your average person, GM has done the same with the Camaro.

In a nut shell, while all these bad a** specialty cars being made are cool to talk about, who is gonna be able to afford them, not any of us I assure you that. Example, the Shelby 1000 is cool, but a $150,000 Shelby, Jesus Christ....I could buy a Ferarri for that price, SERRIOUSLY!!! And with the regular models starting at over 25K for next to no options.....hold on while I gasp for air....it's gonna be interesting to see what happens next.

If this trend continues the days of the pony car giving the every day man power without the money are over.

just an FYI, a base Mustang GT in '02 was $23k. a base Z28 in '02 was $21k. the f-body was cheaper. the Stang just sold better.

Going by the actual experience of shopping for these cars when they were new, that's not at all what I found. A fully loaded GT (premium coupe) was about the same price as a no option z28 (no leather, single CD). IIRC, the sticker on a z28 always included an option package with cruise control and power windows and remote lock which is why the sticker price on the camaro was misleadingly low, and you couldn't find a new one without that equipment package even if you wanted it. Also, there's a hump on the floor in a camaro, and if that doesn't make you question the engineering quality behind a car, nothing will. When you go to the dealer after looking at sticker prices and you find out that GM was blowing smoke up your *** and Ford was actually telling you what the real car costs, it makes a difference to most people.

Also... let me tell you kids, the in-dash 6-CD changer was the shiznit at the time...

That was a hold-over from the 3rd gens, when the early cars had the Cat located underneath the hump. I HATED that thing, made it uncomfortable for passengers. They really should have fixed that with the 4th gen, but cheaped out instead.

I figure people who hang out with you probably aren't too picky.

It's not just "mustang guys" that notice that, it's everyone. I actually went into the market wanting a camaro but ended up with the mustang because the camaro oozed "good drive train strapped to a crappy car". It's like if you're looking to buy a house and somebody used duct tape to secure the water heater to the a wall. Makes you wonder WTF else is going on that you can't see?

I think it is, but then I owned a 3rd gen so it was something I had to deal with. I hated it because I personally could never get comfortable in any passenger seat in a 3rd/4th gen fbody. It always put my feet at an awkward angle for some reason.

The one time I rode in a 94 Camaro in the passenger seat I couldn't get my feet comfortable. They're size 14, so that might have something to do with it

Probably is, as I wear the same size shoe.

I couldn't fit my work boots or dress shoes under the driver's side dash. I always had to wear other shoes if I was heading some place formal or to work.

lol, I remember it seemed like every time a girl got in the Camaro they would ask why there is a hump in the floor. Doesn't make much sense to me, but these cars aren't made for passenger comfort. Or passengers at all really, they were focused more on speed.

The camaro I rode in had the 160hp 3.4 v6. Don't tell me that was built for speed lol

I had the 305 150hp boat anchor. I believe it was built as Detroit had excess metal to deal with.....
