You can find an early 70s Mach without the 429 for under 10k and have money left over to mod.

for nearly a full resto car 10k is enough. for a decent 69 fastback you'll need 15-20k minimum...

depends on your goals with the car. Terminator is probably the best bang for the buck, or a fox body if you are looking for straight line speed. I prefer the looks and interior of the 05+ mustangs, and you'll spend more to go fast. You can go fast in anything, so it comes down to budget and goals. or if you dont care about fast and just want looks then it really narrows it down to what you prefer. a supercharged 4.6L 3valve is a pretty quick car in the 450whp range and probably running high 11s, but for about 20k you can get a 800whp terminator if you keep your eyes peeled.

I jumped on the new 5.0 bandwagon a bit early, i ordered it just when reports of the #8 piston issue and voided warranties for bolt-ons starting appearing. some of the 9 sec stock engine/transmission cars are now blowing up... it's still a good quick car, but it wasn't as bullet proof as people were claiming it was. we'll see what comes out in 2015, i might be upgrading again with a 2017

typed it on my phone, supposed to not enough. 15-20k is minimum for a fastback in decent unrestored condition these days, and people want 8 grand for their complete garbage.
