If you weren't gone so long, you'd know I resurrected this thread because of Cosmos. IE: http://mustangforums.com/forum/8347411-post129.html

http://news.msn.com/science-technolo...etter-than-gas

I was speaking to a guy that used to be the head of Power-Train at GM years back and he told me this exact thing would be coming down the slate. I was telling him about how a lot of modern performance vehicles are switching to return style ethanol fuel systems. He said thats fine and good.....for now....until the legislation that gives them all the extra funding that allows them to profit gets pulled. Then its nighty-night for low ethanol costs. I just thought he was popping off at the mouth. Looks like he might have had a clue what he was talking about. Guys name was Douglas Berg.....works for an accrediting agency now.

Behold, the Ruben's Tube!

Click the image to open in full size.

This is a classic physics experiment that lets you visualize sound waves physically!

Click the image to open in full size.

Basically you put propane in a tube with equally spaced holes on top, connect it to a speaker, and LIGHT THAT BITCH ON FIRE

the nodes and antinodes of the sound wave traveling through the gas inside the tube create areas of relatively high and low pressure in the gas. Because of Bernoulli's principle, the the gas flows faster in areas of low pressure, creating a higher flame at that point. The opposite is true for the low points

Here's what it looks like when you pump music through it

and here's what happens when you expand the concept to two dimensions

Pretty sure you got that backwards brah. Wouldn't the higher pressure make higher flames?

Nope

Bernoulli's law states that static pressure of a Newtonian fluid varies inversely with velocity of that fluid

It's counterintuitive but it's the same principle that allows airplanes to fly

Yes, I have seen the Ruben's Tube. It's always great seeing things physically how I already see them in my mind.

....yes, I'm a seer. yes, other seers think I'm a stoner seer because I'm not 100% right with my seeing. But a seer NONE THE LESS! Can you see this? (shhh, I'm grabbing my inner thigh as to discribe my big *****, but with a much larger and lower grabbing motion than my physical attribution)

I would, but not very wanted in the watching arena. We can only hope the NdT dose at this point. If he doesn't, he's missing out on a great visual to support sound waves, partials and other star stuff.

But yo, if lower pressure makes things go further, wouldn't this be wrong?
