Learn geography. Quake was in N. Ca, Red is in SoCal, at least 350 miles away

And I'm (BLT) even further south. I didn't feel anything. But the waves this morning were extraordinary. :)

Earthquake in California, eh?

Well, duh.

Matt's 95 Stang 08-24-2014 08:33 PM

Ah good old California. I didn't feel **** in LA.

JimC 08-24-2014 09:52 PM

The epicenter was 25 miles from our son's old house. He is in Seattle now, moved there about 6 months ago

simpsonfan13 08-25-2014 06:32 AM

I didn't feel **** in central CA. then went south for the day so eh.

calistang05 08-25-2014 12:14 PM

Yeah I felt the tail end of the quake it shook pretty good, but nothing compared to the one in 89.

kast1376 08-25-2014 12:50 PM

Some people there got hit bad, others did not. All of my friends experienced some damage, mostly things falling from walls or tables. Only one had anything serious happen, and that ended up being more bad luck than anything. (Dog was sleeping in the garage, and a double bowling bag fell down and crushed the dog's ribcage. My buddy found him barely alive, and ended up having him put down. Needless to say he is devastated.)

Other friend lost a few odds and ends, nothing serious. But 2 of their neighbor's houses collapsed.

simpsonfan13 08-25-2014 07:49 PM

Damn, Napa got the **** knocked out of it.

BlueBells96 08-25-2014 07:57 PM

Yeah, it's a hot mess. Was supposed to see Marshall Crenshaw and The Bottle Rockets on sat, but I'm guessing the show will be cancelled or postponed. I am gonna head there and help out friends as needed.

It would of been better if no one was hurt.

I had expected the damage to be minimal since I thought California was more resistant to damage since it's always getting hit.

A lot of the buildings and houses in Napa that got damaged are historical, or were not reinforced properly. One of the buildings that got damaged the worst JUST WENT THROUGH reinforcement a few years ago. So either corners were cut, or they just simply did a piss poor job.

redass02gt 08-26-2014 01:10 PM

There's not really anything we can do to make something 100% earthquake proof. It's kind of like earthquake-resistant. The bay area is chock full of really old ****, too.
