Default Upper GI Endoscopy / Colonoscopy Step on in.

Long story short after ongoing issues im having both test done. My question for those who have had it is, was it with the "conscious sedation" ? Mine will be and I know it was done that way for a long time before full sedation and I worked with a guy who had three this way and said none hurt, he was fully aware just didnt care, it was no big deal.

Yet when you look online naturally all you find are these horror stories about flash backs to terrible pain etc that the drug temporally blocked out. Yet ask any person whos gone through the procedure and they say yea its no big deal/no pain etc.

Anyone here been through this?

I've gone through it, but must not have been conscious sedation because I don't remember a thing about it. Had to have been full sedation because I remember talking with the doctor and staff, and then next thing I knew was my wife was saying my name and I was in a different room for recovery.

I did joke with the doctors if the one doing the endoscopy and the one doing the colonoscopy were planning to shake hands in the middle - then asked them to at least be sure that the endoscopy was done first (they assured me it was different equipment and not to worry LOL)

The worst part about it of course is the day before and the prep work for the colonoscopy. Or as I like to call it "the night of a thousand waterfalls"

If you weigh yourself before starting the prep and that next morning you will see just how full of **** you are.

This is the last place I thought I would be posting but it's nice to know I'm not alone. Reflux/IBS issues all throughout my childhood and I've done these multiple times. I'm typically out before they even start counting. Shameless discount plug here as well. Let me know there's ever anything I can help out with and good luck!

It is also called twilight anesthesia. You are conscience enough to follow directions but won't remember schit.

What they do is they put you under then shove this huge horse **** size apparatus down your throat and take turns tapping you on the forehead and face with their purple hard-ons while taking selfies to circulate amongst the medical community.

Seriously though, back when I had to get scoped every 6 months for my heartburn I never remembered a damn thing but once in a while would have a bit of a sore throat for a while.

I guess that was from the giant horse ****.

I had the colonoscopy done about 4 years ago.
I was awake and watched it on the monitor.
I remember being sedated and I remember watching it on the monitor.
No pain at all.
The Dr. found a hemeroid and I asked him to get rid of it, but he wouldn't.
They sent me a letter and said come back in 10 years.
The roid is doing fine and pays me a visit from time to time.

Coincidentally, you got your title under your name before all of this came about.
It was funny at the time, but now it just looks mean.
Either way, good luck with it.

I just had it done a few weeks ago. They told me they were just going to give me sedatives, but the anesthesiologist would be on standby if I needed him. I went to sleep with whatever they gave me and didn't feel anything or remember any of it.

I've had it done twice. The first time I did have anesthesia and it was worse because it made me sick afterward.

Anyway, I've found most gastro guys are pretty clueless and just prescribe drugs that do nothing to heal you.. just band-aid problems and give you side effects (big surprise, modern medicine). I just did mine to make sure I didn't have any serious bacterial infections or ulcerative colitis.. so that made it worth it.

Still having major issues doe. Going to see another doc I've read a bunch about in October.

Good luck brah.
