Default North! To Alaska..

Heading out here in a little while to go on a family vacation to Alaska. Flying nonstop from Orlando to Seattle then spending 7 days on a boat.

The wife started out trying to save a nickle and had us booked in a tiny little room. "Did you learn nothing from watching Titanic? Never travel steerage because they'll lock you below deck and you'll go down with the ship without a chance." After convincing her that would be a bad idea, we wound up with a balcony suite.

Never been there before except as a layover when I was in the Army heading to Korea. It oughta be a hoot.

Awesome! Enjoy the vacation.

Hear about the Eskimo girl who spent the night with her boyfriend and next morning found she was six months pregnant?

Been there twice and it's absolutely beautiful. Good choice on getting a balcony. It's an absolute must for the Alaskan cruises, not so much for Caribbean though You will see plenty of bald eagles but maybe not the bears and salmon..whale watching is also great this time of year.

well, its getting cold outside again...****in reached down to the 40s the other day. almost can't wait for the snowy stuff............................almost i don't have a twitter account nor have i ever been to a twitter web page (update: i have), but if i ever did decide to take the plunge i will let you know by posting it in this awesome little box of text (update: not really)! i like tacos lol...though between crunchy tacos and soft tacos i cannot really say which one is better. sometimes, the mess a crunchy taco leaves behind is a little annoying while the soft taco just doesn't have the same taste... cake is so much better than pie no, srsly. **** pie. ****ing

does Alaska have 18 hours of daylight/night variations for each season? i might be thinking of Sweden but geographically theyre both real north of the equator

The thing about getting a better room is spot on. On the two cruises I've been on, we had one with a porthole and the other was a balcony. You will end up spending a ton of time on that balcony, and if you're lucky it will be on the side with the ports so you can hang out there while they pull into the dock.

The only reason I would ever go on another cruise would be to Alaska. The cruise I went on from Florida had great whale watching on board, although I didn't see any oceanic mammals.

If possible, do yourself a favor and don't schedule your flights to arrive and depart the same day you board or leave the boat. Spend a day or two in Seattle because it's a very cool city, and sasquatch.

I agree with redasshomo Seattle is a really cool city, it's worth spending a few days in

We spent the day yesterday and this morning dripping around Seattle and it is indeed a cool berg. The weather was perfect and now I'm hearing for the boat
