I had an 86 Astro Cargo Van ... Bought it dirt cheap w/ 101,000 miles ... Re-did the tranny put in a posi ... Beat the hell out of it ... Just regular maintenance after that ... Gave it away with 207,000 miles on the odometer ... Shot to shyt but still running ... lol

My car makes 500rwhp on the stock fuel system/stock heads/stock block/stock crank/heat soaked/stock motor basically....on pump gas. It's yet to not start up and run like a raped ape. It doesn't get moved/started for at least a week b/w driving and yet it still runs perfect. My '97 Maxima broke down the other day and wouldn't start (igntion coil turns out)...it was so funny seeing that beastly non-starting 190hp car sitting beside my perfectly driveable 600hp car. I honestly can't complain one bit about my GM.

that reminds me of one of my friends who owns a 00 maxima as a DD... he's always saying how much fords are unreliable as DDs (he has a 500hp 7up stang for the weekend). he pulled a couple cracks at me about how is nissan is better than my focus as a DD (wich well obviously i can't really argue about). anyway he called me twice to date to go help him out because he was stranded somewhere and his car wouldn't start, once it was the starter and once the battery just died so i gave him a boost ...i told him "yeah too bad your nissan is so reliable i have to come pick you up or give you boost you with my bottom of the food chain ford" it was my turn to have a laugh at him

I have personal and work GM trucks. They are all V8's and I never have any trouble. Infact my son has the 5.3 V8 in his truck with a Magna charger on stock internals and stock trans. He has been racing the SH!T out of it at the sand drags in Glamis and it hasn't had one problem. He's had it S/C'd for almost two years and runs 40" tires on it with 4:88's front and rear.

pick-ups and LS1s are obviously GM's babies, very good vehicules... they just seem to put out crap on most every other models they've made in the past 10 years.

True, I did have some probs with my S-10's, so I quit buying them. Now I only buy Toyota's for my light duty trucks (pool maintenance) and full size Chevy's for my repair and construction trucks.
edit: I almost forgot, we have one quad cab Hemi I bought for one of my salesmen. Also a very nice truck.

i've had good products from both.

i had an 88 buick skyhawk with some sort of 4 banger.......345,000 miles.......original oil when i got it.......still ran.

i had an 88 mustang GT vert with 168,000 miles and the only problem i ever had with it was the water pump blew at about 160,000.
