Default Who uses oil additives?

You've seen them advertised everywhere (SLick 50, Prolong, etc...) and they are generally junk and some have destroyed engines, but I'm wondering if anyone still uses or tries them.

I used Restore in my 93 Probe GT every oil change and it had 170K and it never burned or dripped oil. I drove it HARD.

I recently added some to my mustang with my Mobil 1 synthetic oil. Not doing it again until...maybe...100K? It has 83K now.

After seeing the internals of an engine treated with PTFE I will NEVER use oil additives. I saw Carroll Shelby on Speed HD channel in a commercial pitching some additive, saying that he would place his REPUTATION on it! And furthermore, that he's used it in all of his personal vehicles! I researched the product and found many lawsuits claiming bearing corrosion from it's use. I'm wondering if Shelby isn't ruining his reputation with the choices he's making in his senior years.

No thank you!!! If Amsoil ever releases an oil additive I "may" try it, otherwise no thanks.

Wow scarry, I had a 93 Probe GT and my Mustang has 83k on it now lol My probe died though, it's had 2 engines in it, last one was a KLZE VERY fun car when it ran, as far as handling it rapes the mustang. I should have tryed Restore I guess lol, it burned oil like a mofo. I've had good luck with my stang though.

As for oil additives, I don't use any, just use a premium oil and fuel system cleaner and premium oil filter, you should be good.

That KLZE is a bad ass engine. I had several friends from my old car club that had the KLZE. If you could get them running right, boost it, they would own most cars on the street.
I used to love pulling up to a mustang and they would laugh. When the race was over, they would be like WTF? a Probe GT??

Ran a 13.9@100mph. Very fun car.

I used to put in Slick 50 ever 50K in my old '87 sentra. Car has 220K miles on it and no blow-by and no other issues with the motor. Parents still own it and still drive it occassionally.

I used to to drive the shiz out of that car (Bought it used when I was 17 in '91 and drove it until I bought the 00 Stang)

Never put anything in the 00 or my new 08 or the wife's Escapes (02 and 06) or the daughters 06 Sentra.

only thing i ever looked into using was a ZDDP addative in the ol 65 since its still the original internals and flat tappet.

instead of doing the additive i ended up just using valvoline VR1 race oil as its got a higher level of zinc in it then the standard oil. that way i dont have to measure anything lol
