Default motorcraft oil filter

Someone looked at my oil filter and laughed thier head off that I had a motorcraft filter on the car , anyone know why that would be ? When I asked all I was told is it was garbage and performance robbing , any truth to that ? And what is everyone else using?

No they are good filters, and the anti drainback valves are excellent. Sure theres better but for the price they get the job done. Im not sure how it would rob performance.

Your first clue was anyone calling a filter performance robbing. You're dealing with an idiot.

i use the ford racing one only because it has that nut on the end, and that makes it easier to come off. To my understanding if you have any major brand filter that is made for your car, all of them are fine. Also if you are changing them every 3-7.5K or at least once every 6 months or so i would not go too crazy on them, why pay 3 to 4 times as much for the amsoil one when you replace them often enough that it does not matter.

Was this 'someone' automotive qualified in any way?

Anyone else notice a new filter design, or at least a new look, to the motorcraft oil filters? For my year, they look different...

all 4.6l fords(except for a small amount of F150's at one certain plant that used FL400s for a short time during manufacturing) use the FL820 filter and i work for a dealer and i did notice that they have changed the design slightly recently to a shorter filter but im guessing they made up for it some with more baffles in the filter itself
