5quarts exactly for the 4.6?

On any car your supposed to fill to the full mark on the dipstick nomatter what. There is always a good bit of oil still in the engine after youve drained most of it out. Does the manual specify if the 5 quarts includes filling the oil filter? In the manual for my 2003 it says fill with 6 quarts. The 4.6 mustang oil pans are all the exact same from 1996-2004.

you may be wrong right there. The 96-98 oil pans have an insert for the oil gauge. The oil pans for the 99-04 dont. I just did a engine swap and didnt swap the 96 oil pan to the 04 motor and my gauge has a mind of its own. When I hit the gas, either hard or soft, the needle goes from low to high. If I wot the gauge goes all the way up to high and when I let go, the gauge goes bak to low! haha weird.

idk,i even remember going to get my oil changed and told the guy i usually put in 8, he charged me for 6 because he didnt believe me and then he put 8 in i thought i would get away without paying for the last 2, i was wrong and had to pay separate for the 2 qts since it was synthetic. This was to fill it to the max on the dip stick, and maybe it had something to do with the oil filter too but i crashed that car a week later so it doesnt matter now.
