How much does a 05 SALEEN need anway? same as a 05 gt right? 5 quarts or 6?

Same 6 qts as the GT. Use 5/30 and not 5/20 as you would in a GT. I have only used Royal Purple but there are a few good premium brands to choose from.

Really? it says 5w20.

The Saleen manual says 5/30. The Ford manual says 5/20.

The 4.6L engine requires 6 quarts. Assuming you haven't been auto X racing frequently, you haven't hurt your engine using only 5 quarts. Add one more quart, check the level, it should be perfect. I'm curious though, did you never check the oil level after an oil change? You would have seen that it was one quart low.

Ford recommends 5W-20 oil due to CAFE laws, and no other reason. It's not better for the engine than a 5W-30, and I prefer a 30 grade for this application.

Saleen is smart, and isn't bound to pay penalties to the federal government like Ford, so they recommend what they know the engine needs....especially if it's supercharged.
