Default 347 oil

Want to buy a 347 short block freshly built and balance. I have heard of oil issue with 347 but I don't know how bad it is or in which way it hurts it. Can any body explain exactly how and if its good for a weekend stang. O and I want to use my supercharger on it

blah blah blah, the oil problem, i have the 5.4 rod engine and no issues and i drive mine daily!

The thing is with the 5.4 rods the wristpin is in the ring land making the oil easier to get by the rings. but as i said I have no issues mine dosent smoke or burn oil might have to have a few miles on it.

I have about 5000 on mine and no issue yet!

There is a 5.315 rod out now for quite sometime, it moves the wristpin out of the lower ring land which suposedly prevents the oil issue!

So that's the oil issues about. Other then that does that hurt the engine in any way.

No it dosent unless you run it dry lol! If it burns oil you will notice and i`d hope you check your oil more often than that.

You might want to start sourcing an aftermarket block before you even consider beginning your build.

Forced induction on a well built 347 will snap the stock block in half.

Agree with Adder on this deal.
A 347 with any boost at all is sort of a scary deal........

Well my buddies 347 with tfs heads F/I comp cam and trackheat intake with a vortech v-1 10lbs of boost has survived its first tranny rolling on it, it rung off half 3rd gear! Its a stock block, my 347 just got popped with 150 today for the first time, nothing yet! My other buddy has a 331 similar to mine beats the **** out of it, stock block its still running! Another friend of mine 347 dead to a high volume oil pump with a 5quart pan lol! no broken blocks yet.
