Default Exhaust 'break-in' period?

Hey everybody,

I just installed an MRT H-Pipe and Magnaflow Catback in my 01 GT 'vert. It is EXTREMELY loud inside the car. It sounds louder than the MRT/MagnaPACK clip on Mustangexhaust.com. Is there something wrong with the install, or is this how it should sound? Is there some sort of break-in period where it will sound differently after a certain amount of time?

Thanks.

Hpipes + catbacks are loud, when crusing at 2000rpm I can barely hear the passenger talking... you wanted a loud Mustang right?

Thanks for the reply. Yep, it definitely needed to be louder. And the extra power is awesome. I just wanted to make sure it was normal because this was the biggest install my friends and I have ever done.

Just make sure that there are no leaks between the headers and the pipes.. do you have cats?? if you dont that is maybe why your car is louder than normal... I do have cats in my car and sometimes I feel is too laud.... when I have to drive more than 1 hour I get headaches[:@]...

you should be able to see black coming out from the joints if there's leaks, also what I used to do to check for air leaks in my paintball stuff is to use soapy water in a a spray bottle. Start up the car, preferably cold, and spary it on the joints, if there are leaks it will make bubbles.

Yeah, I went with the cats for emissions reasons. The fitment was excellent and I followed MRT's directions. They supplied a new flange for the passenger side and recommended some Permatex Silicon for the driver's side, which I used. Thanks all for the suggestions to find leaks; I will try them tomorrow when we raise it up.

Those mufflers will actually get louder over time.

They sound amazing though...I loved mine. [&:]

Then you have what we call a problem. You took off 2 mufflers and fed them into 1 right?
