whats needed for 15psi
Well my stock block (99 4.6 2v)finally took a dump. I am trying to figure out which would be the best route, rebuild my stock block with forged manley pistons and rods leaving the stock crank alone, or buying an 03 cobra short block i have found one for $1800 from a local shop. I was running 10psi on my stock block non intercooled and now i want to be able to run 15psi. I know ill need to intercool it so im basically trying to find out which one would be the best for the least amount of money (i am trying to be cheap due to baby on the way in a month). If the stock block bored .20 over with the forged pistons rods and stock crank will hold up just as well i think it might be cheaper to go that route cuz i found rods pistons and rings for $750 then i would need a bearing kit and assembly not sure how much that will run. Also i am considering ditching the methanol for a 50 shot. I tried posting this in the 4.6 forums and didnt get much help at all. So if anyone could give me some help/advice i would appreciate it.

RE: whats needed for 15psi
you doin your own work? if not, make a deal with the shop that has the 4v to do all at a price. I am running 10lbs non i/c and often wonder about being in your situation. the 4v will give more flex for you in the future. what meth kit do you have and are you getting rid of it? Congrats on the kid, you life will never be the same, enjoy it.

RE: whats needed for 15psi
Well the shop wants $1500 for labor plus id have to supply all gaskets which will be another $300 plus a new 8 bolt flywheel which is $300 and then the $1800 for the block so about $3900 give or take $100 or $200 and thats not even including assembling my new heads and cams and thats a little steep for me and from what ive been pricing if i have an engine shop build the gt block with forged pistons and rods new rings bearnngs basically rework it minus a forged crank, including all gaskets, assemble the PI heads and comp cams i have, intercooler and piping, new 15psi pulley and belt, basically its about $2100 without labor on swap so if i go the route of building my own block id be able to intercool it and still have less money into it than going with the cobra block. Its just a matter of will it be as strong??? Also if i go with the cobra block(block only keeping my 2v heads) i will not be able to intercool it and wont i need to be intercooled pushing that much boost hell even i keep pushing 10psi i need the intercooler because my intake temps living in socal are 160+. And i have the SNOW WATER/METH injection kit with progressive controller and yes i will be getting rid of it
