Magnaflow catback changes sound over time?
Seems like I have read it before that the magnaflow catback system can change it's sound characteristics over time. Can anybody substantiate or elaborate this? I want to say that mine still sound really good but seem to have changed a bit.Seems like I have read it before that the magnaflow catback system can change it's sound characteristics over time. That sounds right. Probably offroad pipe would accelerate this affect -vs- cat'd system due to more particulant flowing downstream. We have a working theory.

It is actually the fibers of the wrap burning off and glazing over making a larger resonance chamber and a smoother flowpath out of the body of the muffler. Typically a glass pack style muffler smoke and smells when they are first installed because of the packing inital burn off of the loose fibers.
