Hi all,

I'm completely new to the forums, and love Mustangs! I have only one problem, I know very little about cars except that I love fast ones. I recently bought a 2006 GT, and want to upgrade my exhaust. I'm willing to put about $500 into it, so I know that limits me somewhat. Also, I probably will need to pay someone to install whatever I go with.

I did a little research and it looks like I have two options. A cat-back or axle-back system. Cat-backs being about twice as expensive. I want the car to sound great, but I want to get as much of a performance boost as I can. I guess I'm leaning toward a Flowmaster axle-back system, but that's only because it's affordable and seems to be the simplest choice.

I would appreciate it if anyone can briefly educate me on the pros and cons of different choices, and recommend what I should do for around $500. Thanks!

i have flows on my 01 gt...it sounds rle good! if u want like rle deep and pretty loud (not too loud) id go with slp...they are pretty good. for 500 bones i think u could get a rle good slp system! good luck with ur choice...anything is betta then stock...remember tht! lol

It doesn't seem that I can replace both my pipes axle-back system for $500. Will the SLP LMs sound okay with factory pipes? Will I still get some performance boost?

you wont really get any performance boost. itll sound good though

+1 not a lot maybe 2 hp or sumthin. but it will sound A LOT betta!

It looks like I'll be getting Loudmouths for Christmas then! I've noticed there are LM1s and LM2s mentioned alot here. What's the difference and what sounds better on an 06 GT? Also, can I buy these in muffler shops somewhere, or will I have to order then bring them to get installed? Thanks for the help guys!
