No h or x connecting pipe.

No h or x connecting pipe.
I have a 69 coupe 302, roller cam, performer rpm intake, holley 650 double pumper, and long tubes, so im obviously not worried bout emissions. Coming off the headers it just feeds straight into the pipes, and then through my glasspacks and then to turndowns by the rear chunk. I don't have a x pipe or h pipe or anything. Is this robbing me of power, or are they just for emissions cars. Secondly I was thinking of taking off the turndowns and putting tips out the back. I am hesitant to do this b/c the turndowns sound awesome and the people all around me can hear me, not just the ones behind me. If I do put tips on, will it take away any horsepower, make the car quieter, or make it so that when i give the throttle a love tap everyone around me wont s*** themselves? I am in high school so things liek this really matter. lol.
Thanks for the help.

RE: No h or x connecting pipe.
You are certainly hurting your performance by not having atleast an h-pipe in there. To get proper scavaging of the exhaust both sides need to work together to do it efficantly (sp). To keep the muscle car sound an h-pipe will allow you to do that and pick up some power, and x would give you the best gains but will kinda of steer the car away from the muscle car sound.
A for turndowns vs tips, anyones guess if you like the sound keep them but if you want to add a little bling throw some tips up there.
