Default Supercharger problem

I have a vortech v1sc 6 pound charger on my 92 fox, it is installed correctly and it makes boost but not enough . It only runs 3 pounds of boost at full throttle, i tried numerous vacuum lines and gauges, they all read the same. Stock motor except for 65 mm throttle body and full exhaust. It should have way more power than it does i dont know what is wrong. My timing is set at 13 degrees and if i were running 6 pounds i would have blown a head gasket by now. Any troubleshooting greatly appreciated.

Double check your clamps. Check the bypass valve too, they're bad about sticking.

Do you have a way of reading your vacuum?

I have a boost gauge teed into the vacuum line for the fmu, i double checked with different vacuum gauge right to back of manifold, same reading. It almost never comes out of vaccuum to boost unless its full throttle and then only 2 to 3 pounds max. I thaught the power should always be there on a blower no matter what rpm. could the blower itself be hooped, brand new like 2 weeks old straight from vortech.

I dont think mine came with a bypass valve, its only a small basic blower

Sounds like a boost leak. Double check all hoses from the blower to the intake manifold and anything attached. Also what size pulley are you running?

? the pulley that came with the kit, i think its something in my motor but i should still see at least 5 pounds come out of the blower

no, the boost is not always there. the boost won't even kick in until about 3000rpm under WOT. even then, you're only going to be making about 3psi and won't make your max boost until about redline. what's your boost gauge read when you're at like 5200rpm?

If all your seeing is 3 psi even at 5200 rpm check for belt slippage. That was my problem when I first installed my P1sc.

I was told my car would scream with this blower, i should be able to smoke the tires in second gear on a roll, it doesn't. I have rear upper and lower bbk controll arms but that wouldnt give me enough traction to not spin.

Sounds like belt slippage. Your belt should be like a guitar string. I had a serious problem with mine, got a gatorback belt and the problem was solved for me. Also, what rpm are you only seeing 3lbs of boost at? Does it stay at 3 lbs through the entire RPM range?

your car is not going to scream at WOT. the only screaming will be from the exhaust, your blower is going to be quiet, almost like it's not even there (except for the obvious power you're getting). if you're starting off in 2nd, you're not going to smoke the tires. if you're going like 40mph and drop it in 2nd, yeah, you should be able to do it. hell, you can do that without a blower.

everything you've described thus far is what a twin screw/roots type blower would give you. you have a centrifugal which doesn't follow the same rules. you should have researched it a bit more to get exactly what you wanted.

I have a gatorback belt on there, its tight. 3 pounds at 5500 rpm. No boost pressure untill at least 3800rpm. When i say car should scream i mean it should go like stink. The blower is heard untill 2000rpm then exhaust takes over. It goes in for btm and tune on friday, has idle issues as well, always a small surge even before the blower. Hopefully all is solved. Thanx for the help guys this site is awesome, ill post pics once i shrink the files

hey man... I got the same entry level kit. I have seen 5 lbs. belt has to be real good and tight. I bypassed the rear vacume tube that goes to the lower intake. Its in the back of the engine. If you have a stock intake it lets out boost into your crank case. I blew my damn oil pan gasket and front main seal. after the fix and bypassing that. she's good to go. By the way i have seen 5 lbs even before the bypass. something is up man... get back at me after the tune. I wanna try and mock up mine to your tune. You would really help me alot.

i can nail the throttle at 1500-2000 and it will jump to 3-5 psi, but you just dont feel it until about 3000, then it goes into hyperdrive
