planning on a vortech kit..
im planning on supercharging my 00 GT vert soon and i was wondering if with the vortech kit if i could sub the head unit with a novi 1 or 2000 head unit for more power?? and if with the supercharging kit if i need to get a new ecu maybe a stand alone or just get a tuner or a professional tune or what. im new to this and want some more power. i road race this car right now and take it to the 1/4 strip every once in a while. i have a king cobra clutch to back it up but will i blow the tranny soon on 10 psi? sorry for alot of questions but thought id get em all outta the way. thanks to all!!

If you buy a kit, such as the mongoose one that everyone reccomends, it will come with a tuner (I believe predator with the mongoose) which has a preloaded or "canned" tune on it. You should definately have it professionally tuned by someone with a dyno so that they can make sure that the Air to Fuel Ratio is correct. Usually you should look for an AFR in the 11.6-11.8:1 area while under Wide open throttle, and make sure who you have tune the car turns traction controll on.
If you don't have the newer PI intake manifold (with the improved coolant crossover), don't expect yours to last too long. The one I had lasted for about a year before it blew. I have the newer manifold which seems to be working just fine.
I think others would agree that at 10psi you would probably be in the 400rwhp neighborhood. Most people would agree that this is pretty safe for the 4.6 shortblock, and for the transmission as well, as long as you don't do any extreme launches.
The novi 2200 is really the blower with the most potential, it makes almost all of the others pail in comparison (V2-s&T trims, and P-1sc, not sure on the D-1sc) and it can flow more than you can use with the stock bottom end. If you plan on a complete build up, It is definately the best buy for the money, but only if you are going to use it to it's potential.
I pretty much bought my car fully built with the exception of a few odds and ends, so hopefully one of the other guys will chime in with what they know.
