Default wideband and window switch ?

Ive been looking at getting a wideband gauge, and have been getting a little mixed up with the difference between a wideband and just something like a A/F monitor. I still havent gotten back to the states to get it tuned but from what ive heard ill be fine untuned. I just want that piece of mind that im not running lean. Also i purchased a zex window switch any one have any tips on installing it ive read the install manual online and im clueless on where to get a tach signal on our cars.( i suck with wireing) Thanks in advance for helping out

air/fuel monitor is referring to the gauge. There are multiple parts to a wideband setup. There's the wideband o2 itself, the wideband controller, then the optional gauge.

Some kits don't come with gauges. Make sure you get a digital gauge, not the led bar type. Summit makes a good kit that uses the lc-1 controller, bosch o2, & a summit gauge for $250. AEM 6in1 is pretty good aswell, it uses the led & digital #'s helpful so you can see if you're running lean out of the corner of your eye.

Another plus is it has two outputs. So you can just thread the wideband into the stock o2 position & program one output to the factory narrowband voltage settings, then the other output going to the gauge you can program to give you a wideband reading.

One bank is perfectly fine. This is to get a general idea of the a/f ratio of the entire engine. Obviously your eec isn't going to dump more fuel into the left bank (on purpose) than the right.

The only thing having more than one is good for is telling how that certain side or cylinder is running. You can go as far as putting 8 on it to see how each individual cylinder is running.

It doesn't matter what side you mount it on. On other peoples cars I generally mount it on the passenger side & run the conroller wires up through the passender floorboard, Then I mount the controller by the eec. But with the aem, the gauge is the controller. If you're mounting the gauge on the drivers side you may be better off using the drivers side bank, then run the analog output to the stock eec & program it to run the factory a/f ratio/voltage settings, this way you can just take the narrowband o2 out & plug the wideband in.

One thing... Make sure you have a leak free connection otherwise the o2 will read that you're running lean. That may also be an issue if you've had trouble getting one side to seal.
