Default Couple of questions about nitrous

I've been tossing around the idea of installing a Zex nitrous kit on my 07' S197. I was just wondering what kind of time it takes to get the nitrous ready to go in a street-race situation. At the track you have plenty of time to open/warm the bottle, purge, etc. but on the street things happen fast. Hell, the couple of street races I've had have begun with either someone rolling up next to me at a light, check for cops/other cars/room to run, a head nod and we're off. No time to get ready if nitrous has a prep time.

Is it worth it to have for an occasional unforseen street race?

You can get a remote bottle opener if your that serious on the street. Get a digital bottle pressure gauge and try and maintain ur pressure, and all you have to do is hit ur purge switch . I just declined my seat and opened the rear seat to access my bottle to open it. But im a dumb *** and you look like a retard reclined all the way.

Yeah, that's not the way I'd be inclined to do it, but whatever works I guess. I saw the remote bottle opener that Zex makes for their kit (~$200). That's what I'm trying to understand. If I spend $600 on the basic kit, then another $200 on the remote opener, $100 on a pressure gauge, another $100 on a bottle warmer, $100 for a purge kit etc etc. Then the bottle fills...

Christ, I'm going to be making this much investment and if it takes too long to prep causing me to not evenuse it..! That's what I'm talking about.

when i go out street racing racing the heateris on and the bottle is open b4 i leave. unless you had a remote opener like stated... you need it open or or you'd have to pull over and open it.

but other than that... zero prep time, and NOT purging actually helps on the street cuz it takes a few seconds to fill the line b4 it hits

plenty of times i come up w/ a reason to pull over and crack it open for a quick race though.

9 of 10 times they know why thopugh... and more often than not say nevermind

yeah if i go out crusing i run the bottle open and the heater on. I ran it without a bottle heater for awhile and i highly recomend gettting one its worth the extra cash. I just got the Zex tuner kit came with heater, blowdown, gauge, and purge kit.

I live in central Texas where the temperature stays between 70-100 degrees year round. Would I really need a bottle heater? And how long does the remote bottle opener take to engage? Would I be able to open the bottle and get ready within say... 20 seconds or less? If the bottle is already open, you just have to flip the switch to activate and then pedal to the floor, correct?

Sorry about all the questions guys. Just trying to see if nitrous is for me or not. Thanks.

as fast as a selonoid opens up... thats all it is, a giant selonoid thats super strong.

so yeah , flip it open, turn it on and go, your only limited by how fast you flip the switches.

and even though the ambient temp is 70*, in your cool trunk it might be 60* , so you will at times need a heater. if the temp falls below 70* you start to sacrifice bottle pressure, a full cold botle might make 600 psi, heat it up to 80* and it will make 1000+

i never spray if i fall under 800-900 (hetaed) , i consider it close to empty
