89 5.0 nitrous dyno tuning tommarow, need help asap
whats up guys, hoping for some advice.
ill be tuning my 100shot thursday on the dyno.
by tuning i mean playing with the right jet's untill i get it to the right A/F ratio.
i know the jet's they recommend from NX are ment for "stock" cars.
i just installed a welpro 255 HIGH PRESSURE pump, and im worryed that with the high pressure ill be spraying WAY to much fuel when the nitrous go's off.
here is something that's key, i do NOT have a aftermarket fuel pressure regulator, and no fuel pressure gauge, i will be using the STOCK fuel pressure regulator. (fuel regulator and gauge will be here by nxt wk)
i have drivin the car alot sence the install of the 255high pressure pump, over 200mile's and it seens to run BETTER then before, no sign's of it being rich, or bogging out.
so im pretty confident that its at the right PSI.
but when i start to spray nitrous, i think it will be spraying WAY to much fuel.....
ok, so i will be spraying the recommended jet's for 100shot, and seeing where it is, backing out fuel, or adding nitrous jet's to get the car a little fat/rich and such.
BUT!
when i get an aftermarket gauge, and fuel pressure regulator, what can this effect as far as me having the proper jet's for the stock fuel pressure regulator, but then running an aftermarket one??????
i plan on hooking up the gauge to the stock one, to see what PSI its at, hooking up the aftermarket one, then setting it to that PSI, then afterword's, ill prob run it on the dyno, spraying the 100shot, and playing with the PSI to see if i can do better/have to adjust my jets.
im going to start with 8* base timing, do you think this is to much? to little?
(8* base with 100shot)
*******any advice on this hole process would be great******
ALSO!
with my set up for nitrous, IE, 91 octane fuel (highest pump gas you can get at this elevation) 8* base timing(please recomend proper timing for shot) NGK plug's gaped to .40, 255 high pressure pump, etc....
do you think a 125-150 shot of nitrous is "safe"
and if so, what base timing do you recommend?

well to start your good w/ the 255, you just dump the excess back into the system , you don't use it
start w/ 10* but expect to go to 12*, even w/ the elevation it's cool enough out that 12* will probably be best (i have sprayed 14* and 91 octane b4 and got my best runs from it)
gap is fine at .040" i run about .042"-.045 but no need to change for that little bit.
yes start w/ the stock jets... then change little by little by LESS fuel... not more nitrous
if bigger nitrous jet is the only choice, then do it... but i like to use less fuel.
expect your fuel pressure to be about 38 psi at idle bounce around 40-42 at wot and spike to 80 on the juice
note your fp settings and just make sure you do the same thing when you get the new stuff
i think i got it all.... good luck and have fun w/ it

thank's bob, havent seen you around in a bit.
haha, yea, ill have fun alright, as long as this AOD hold's ill be running a 100shot for now.
today is the last day for the track, and im not going n/a, and i dont want to risk nitrous without watching the dyno right now.
dyno is tommarow, ill get my 100 and 150shot perfect, ill try 12* with the 100shot, but i am not comfy with running 12* with a 150shot right now
