Default Reliability comprimise with a small nitrous bottle?

Hey guys,

I used to be completely opposed to the idea of nitrous for the sole purpose of the risk of comprimising alot of reliability in the engine. But as I read around about the smaller shots like a 75-125hp shot. It doesn't seem all too bad. Can somebody clear this up, what setup would be required to insure the safest running of nitrous? New fuel pumps?

Thanks!

Nitrous is just as safe as any other power IMO,just the regular goodies will get you going and do LOTS of research on it.Also,if you plan on doing the install yourself TAKE YOUR TIME!Dont use electrical tape for the wiring(I used butt connecters, heat gun, shrink wrap etc, turned out really nice,I can post some pics if you would like.I would for sure get a window switch, bottle heater, pressure gauge, purge, and HT0 plugs just to be on the safe side and most of all a good tune(Ive got a canned tune for a 100 shot from brenspeed and when I had it dynoed, the A/F was damn perfect,I would recommend them BTW).This will give you a really safe setup.

I agree w/ the above. I think a lot of the danger comes from getting greedy or not doing the proper upgrades to your car. I also would recommend that you upgrade your clutch if you havent already. You will see a huge increase in the tq dept. You will want to upgrade your fuel pump and run premium too. (93 or 94 oct if you can get it.)

I too agree with the above but would advise you to solder ALL connections butt connectors and shrink wrap are fine but can come loose.

Other than that with a properly tuned vehicle 75-125 shouldnt be anything for your engine.

My buddy just put a 125 plate system on his bonestock AMC javelin with a 304 and didnt do anything to it.The goal was to blow this motor for the big block that awaits but this little 304 has proven to be a little tougher than we thought.

make sure you buy a wet shot kit, they are much safer than a dry system, you don't need any other fuel pumps for that system, hey are relatively safe just don't go crazy,
