Default Changing Pulley on Vortech

I just purchased a vortech head unit. The pulley that is on it is a 3.25". This will make too much boost for my stock motor, so I want to switch it out for something bigger. Is the pulley pressed on? Do I just get a strap wrench to hold the pulley while I loosen the bolt?

Also what size pulley should I run if I want to stay around 8-9 psi? I'm also thinking about using a AFM power pipe, but not sure yet.

BTW its a V2 S-Trim headunit

well first off, i wouldnt buy a power pipe if your trying to cut down the boost youll be running because the pipe is designed to add a pound of boost or two. second, how much boost does vortech rate that pulley at on your motor? if i knew that i could tell you what you need to hit your goal. the pulley is just pressed on and held on with a bolt. if you have an impact you can just hit it once and the bolt should come right out without anything holding the pulley. youll find that even with the bolt off the pulley wont come off. youll need to heat the pulley to get it to expand so you can pull it off. just take a torch and go around the pulley for about a minute. the pulley should slide right off. do the same thing when putting the new pulley on, DO NOT FORCE THE NEW PULLEY ON it will damaged the sc

that pulley will be fine for your stock motor. with no power pipe, you'll probably be just shy of 10psi. just make sure you get it properly tuned. i ran a 3.10 pulley for about a year with no problems.
