Question vortech v1 and 3.6" pulley

From what ive read the step up ratio of the v1 is smaller than the v2. Right now im running a v1 with the 3.6" pulley on my 2000 gt and im not impressed at all. The maximum ive seen on my gauge is about 3.5psi.

Would i need to switch to a smaller pulley to see the same amount of boost and power a v2 would put out?
