How to screw my 98 GT?
I need some advice.
I'm interested in getting my '98 GT up to around 350 RWHP. It's a daily driver, and I'm just looking for some more fun. This car will not see the track. I'm interested in the Kenne Bell 6PSI kit, as it would be an easy bolt on that will get me to about 350 RWHP without a lot of modifications. My problem is that they don't make the 96-98 kit anymore, and if I switch to the PI heads, the bump in compression will force me to go with an intercooled kit which is more expensive and a lot more to install. So here are my options as I see them.
1) Use the Livernois adapter plates and deal with possible hood clearance or belt length problems. Thoughts?
2) Use the same RTV sealant techniques employed when installing a PI intake on non-PI heads. Too risky? This would be the easiest.
3) Put the PI heads on with a 6 PSI kit and see if the tuner can back the timing off enough to run 93 octane.
4) Go with a centri and 410s instead.
What do you think? I'm kind of partial to going with the KB because I like the torque on the street. If I was on the mainland I would forge the bottom end, drop the cr to 8.5:1 and be done with it, but I'm in Hawaii, and shop time is about double what it is back home. Example: I was quoted $1000 - $1200 for a rear end gear install.
Thanks for your time.

what would the cr be if you changed heads?
why the hell would you even think about running 8.5:1 with 6psi?? with only 6psi you could run 10:1-11:1 with the right tune. 6psi isnt anything, its almost a joke to get a sc for just 6psi.
i say get the PI heads and get the kb, then have it tuned

If I forged the bottom end and dropped the compression ratio, I would run as much boost as possible. 6 psi is about all I can get away with at 10.3:1 c/r. I didn't say I was going to forge it and run 6 psi. That would be stupid.
Thanks for the input.

10.3 is nothing for 6psi. if i was you , get the new heads, run the kb. your tuner will have no problems with tuning that setup. if you decide to forge your motor in the future, then you already have the heads and the kb ready to go
