Default Twin screw or Centri?

I know others have asked this before, but those threads aren't helping. I need to know from those that have these types of blowers.

I have driven a Termi and absolutely fell in love with that Eaton S/C. I love the way it is instant and steady all through the RPM's. The sound, the feel, everything about it gives me a hard on.

I have also driven turboed cars. I DO NOT like the lag associated with them. I kinda enjoy the eventual power they put out and I do like the driveability of them. But I just don't feel the same way about those as I do with the Eaton.

So the question is this: is getting a Kenne Bell worth 100% of the price of a Vortech? Based on experience, would it be worth it to build myself a Vortech system and use the rest I would have used for the KB on brakes and suspension.

Thanks.

Why would it be 2-3 times the price? From what i've seen the difference is like maybe $500 ish between a intercooled Vortech/Paxton and a intercooled Kenne Bell. Those numbers may be a little off, but it's definantly not 2-3 times more.

I would NEVER buy a new Vortech. I have built a system for $1500 and I can do it again. I never installed that one due to money issues, but still, I'm not paying what Vortech is asking for their systems new. I'd love to get a used KB, but they just aren't out there.

My buddy got lucky and got a non-intercooled KB for $1800.

used vortechs are dime a dozen and can be had for cheap. plus you dont buy the intercooled kits from vortech, you just get one of the base kits for 3000$ and a 200$ intercooler kit off ebay (check sticky for how to). no reason to give vortech another 1500$ for basically a radiator and some piping.

op thats up to you, you said you love the way twin screws boost. is that worth the cost to you? are you able to afford the difference?

There really is no comparing them. The KB will DOMINATE at less than about 4500-5000 rpms. Here is a crappy graph i made a while back of the TQ curves at similar boost.

Well, the plan is that my boss will be givinb me enough to buy the KB kit as a bonus if everything goes well with our transition. I see no reason why it would not, so I'll have it eventually. I am a smart shopper by nature and aside from my wife's engagement ring, this will be the biggest cash purchase I have made. It's difficult to make the commitment when I know I can transform my car entirely if I go Vortech.

But yeah, I think it would be worth the cost. I'm just looking for someone that has owned or driven both and tell me if the KB is REALLY worth $4000.

Too bad most of your racing is done from 4k on up.

TRADE MY Mach 1 HOOD + scoop set up for easy GT install (attached, no intake system necessary, unless you want it) for a COWL hood and maybe STOCK + CASH (but probably not). The hood is painted silver, in great shape, does need a color sand, but thats no biggie. Would prefer a swap for a silver one, but will consider many options. Need to trade due to changed plan on this car. RTP/Greensboro/Charlotte
