Default Expected life of a muffler

I have an 08 V6 Pony Package with only 6K miles. I plan to have dual exhausts installed. I can buy two used GT takeoffs, however they are coming off a 2005 GT with 20K miles. A few questions:

1. Are GT take-offs a good fit and nice sound on a V6?

2. Would any of you purchase mufflers that are 5 years old? Generally speaking, how long is muffler good for?

3. What is a reasonable price to pay for these?

34 views and no replies...whats up? tough question? stupid question? nobody knows?

moderate climate here, very little snow...no road salt, etc.....if the mufflers look great on the exterior....how does one know about the interior of the muffler and the remaining useful life?

probably a good idea to ask the guy to have the muffler bearings checked at a local exhaust shop.

they are prob fine. I have my OEM Catback still on my 97 and there is very little rust and they still sound great, just saying. OEM exhaust is pretty durable.

As they are stainless steel, 30-40 years.

I bought some GT take offs on eBay..they arrived today...they look brand new...so I am very pleased with these....I paid $50 plus $30 shipping.....could have got them a little cheaper...but I am OK with what I paid now that I have seen that the are basically brand new.
